Image of the week #25

Roaming around the garden I found these and the light was nice in the late afternoon. Taken with the Fuji X-Pro 1, 60mm lens at f5.4 and 1/4000 exposure. Sometimes it is fun just to walk around the garden and see what you can find, you never now what you may find. Enjoy.

Image of the week #24

While at the Getty we took a look at the Herb Ritts exhibit, really worth going to see. Amazing images, really creative and great lighting. I was quite impressed with the images and highly recommend anyone interested in photography to go to the Getty and see the exhibit. I am going to go back and take another look, really very creative uses of lines, shapes and light. This shot is taken at the entrance to the gallery, no photography is allowed in the exhibit. Taken with a the Fuji X-Pro 1 18mm f2 lens, 1/80 at f2 and ISO 400, converted to black and white using Lightroom.

Image of the week #23

This week’s image comes from the Getty Center. Taken with a Fuji X-Pro 1 and 18mm f2 lens, setting were ISO 800, 1/25 at f8. I  love black and white and not all images work well in black and white, but I felt that this one did, hope you did too.

Venus Transit

Here are some images from the Venus transit, which occurred on June 5, 2012. These were taken from Santa Ana, CA on the top level of a parking structure. I used my Canon 1D M4 with a 100-400mm at 400mm and a 1.4x which gave me a focal length of  560mm, these are crops of the image, taken using a solar filter. You can see several sunspots in addition to Venus as it moved across the face of the sun. These were taken over a period of about 3 hours. Hope you enjoy them, click on the images to see larger versions.

Image of the week #22

I am really liking my Fuji X-Pro 1, wonderful small camera with really great image quality. I pretty much carry it with me every day. Here is a shot from the Griffith Park Observatory looking towards downtown Los Angeles. This was shot with the Fuji X-Pro 1 and the 18mm f2.0 lens at ISO 200 and 1/350 at f11.
